More About John Newton

"Not only does every child matter, but every child can make a difference..."

John is a graduate of The University of Exeter. He completed an undergraduate degree in Drama before gaining QTS, fulfilling a lifelong ambition to become a teacher. His career has spanned fifteen years and has included work as a class teacher, senior leader, school advisor, educational speaker and headteacher. During that time, John has had the privilege of working alongside some inspirational mentors, colleagues and friends to shape and deliver outstanding teaching and learning in often unique guises. As a school leader, John has experience of developing and opening a brand new school — from scratch — as well as leading Shropshire's only 'Free School'; gaining a great deal of experience and insight into all aspects of school operation.

With his leadership described by OFSTED as "dedicated and inspirational", John has steered a unique path to school improvement, which saw his OFSTED Outstanding school invigorated, highly achieving and, just as importantly, happy.

Far from 'following the trend', John's approach to school development is values-based and welcomes innovation to best meet the needs and attributes of those within its community. At the heart of a superb school are skilled, empowered, reflective and valued educators. With this in mind, John's focus on school development will usually begin there — with people.

In an ever-changing educational climate, it's more important than ever to focus on the values, principles and uniquenesses of your approach. Putting children and teachers at the heart of his work in schools, John offers an expert eye and unique perspective to support you and your setting.
